Dog Days of Fall

What a day for fun filled excitement. As the weather turns and we are forced to wear things like socks and jeans and windbreakers for our daily walk with the dog, we are also forced to look for new and exciting things to do indoors (because I hate wearing socks). Of course, much of the summer has been indoors because it is too hot, but that is beside the point. Some day we will find a place to live that is truly habitable all year round. Or maybe it will come to us. Or maybe this whole global warming thing really is a myth...no. I almost threw up in my mouth just saying that. Nearly as much as it pains me to say our president's name...or a whole bunch of other republicans...or well, a lot of people really.

So...today, after our daily read of Newsweek (we correctly identified which candidate was good and which was evil) and ridiculing Joe Scarborough and his little sidekick Mica (who, by the way, may just very well be more annoying than Elizabeth Hasselbeck, if that is at all possible), we intended to build a block with our Lego Quatro (I plug them in hopes that they will make them again because I would love never to have to troll the Once Upon a Child stores within a 50 mile radius looking for five more blocks, well, either that or pay $75 on Amazon) Okay. Where was I. Oh yes. We had intended to build a block tower for the 47th time today. But instead, after changing a diaper, B requested we put diapers on his 4 stuffed dogs (from whom he will never part). Hmmm...I thought. How might one make diapers for 4 tiny beanie baby Labrador retrievers? And then it hit me. Paper towels...yes....and scissors...and tape...and VOILA. Diapers for dogs. And since they're Bounty or Brawny or one of those very manly names for a product few men ever use, they absorb the beanie baby Labrador retriever poo and other things, too! We are truly geniuses in this family. And we wasted nearly 7 minutes before needing to come up with another project. Of course, later, when we retired to B's room to spend an hour resisting a nap, he insisted we put more diapers on all his animals. And then change the dogs' diapers, since they were dirty, and then throw them in the diaper pail...and another 15 minutes gone. Love it.

Also, we ate hot dogs. In honor of our dog day theme. Delicious.
